Dr. Kangethe holds a PHD in Biochemistry from Jomo Kenyatta University (JKUAT) and a Master of Science in Bio Chemistry from University of Nairobi. His Post-Graduate Research was in assessing the performance of science subjects amongst girls in secondary schools in Central Kenya. He attained his Bachelors of Science (BSc) in Biochemistry, Zoology, Chemistry and Botany from Egerton University in 1999.
Dr. Kangethe started his career in 1988 as a tutor of sciences in Kamucege Secondary School in Lari Sub County, Kiambu County, he moved on to teach in other secondary schools, notably Kambui Girls and Gitwe Girls in Githunguri Sub County, Kiambu. In 1996 he moved on to teach at the Nairobi Technical Training Institute. His tenure at JKUAT began in 1998 where he joined the department of Biochemistry. He rose through the ranks to the Dean School of Biomedical Sciences, where he served prior to joining Kiambu County.
Dr. Kangethe brings to Kiambu extensive experience in education and research. Amongst his top priorities is to refurbish ECDE Centers and ensure that they are well equipped and conducive for learning for young children. A center of excellence for the Vocational Training Centers to empower the youth and ensure that they have the right set of skills to enter the job market and to be well equipped to start their own businesses.
